P-ACE Conference, 4th November 2025, Great Hall, University of Birmingham

Welcome to the launch event for the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Policing Academic Centres of Excellence (P-ACEs).

Launching in October this year, the P-ACEs specialise in topics aligned with the Policing Areas of Research Interest (ARIs). They will improve connections between academic researchers and policing and make it easier for policing to identify and draw upon the best research evidence, science, and technologies that the UK has to offer.

Their two key functions are to:

  • mobilise, showcase and make accessible to policing key insights, findings and outputs from their work
  • respond to the evidence needs, questions and problems raised by policing and work with policing to co-develop new research and knowledge exchange activities
This launch event will bring together representatives from the P-ACEs and key stakeholders from UK policing. At the event, the P-ACEs will explain how policing can access their research, engage with their programmes and benefit from their specialist activities. There will also be talks and panel discussions on priority topics, challenges, and opportunities for P-ACE and policing collaboration.
